Facing Foreclosure? Make ‘em Produce the Note!

Posted in News & PSA's at 4:04 pm by Donna

As seen on Channel 6 Action News in Philadelphia on Wednesday [2/25]:  [paraphrased]

“During the real estate boom, the original note signed by the homeowner may have been lost, trashed, or stored elsewhere, in part because it exchanged hands so many times.”

“A lender’s inability to produce the note may force it to modify a mortgage so it’s more affordable. It may also give homeowners time to find a job so they can make payments again. This out of work real estate agent hopes either way the “produce the note” strategy will be her saving grace, too.”

This is basically saying that they cannot foreclose on a home that they [banks, etc] cannot produce the original note for, forcing them to refinance or give more of a grace period.

Obamination #3 – Barack Invites Hamas to Stay & Eat Free

Posted in News & PSA's, Rants at 5:52 am by Donna

President Obama signed an executive order to the tune of $20 Million of your money that will allow Palestinian refuges with ties to Hamas to come to the US and be given food and housing!

These are people who have shown support of Hamas in the parliamentary election in 2006!

Call me crazy but, well…just call me crazy!

Obamination #2 – Redecorating? At a Time Like This?

Posted in News & PSA's, Rants at 12:27 pm by Donna

President Obama stated this morning, “now is not the time to redecorate the living room….” in his speech about the budget that he will be handing to Congress.

Really?

Last week was it was time for you to put $30 MILLION into the “Stimulus Package” to support Nancy Pelosi’s “pet project”, preserving the habitat of the salt marsh harvest mouse, but this week we can’t afford drapes?  Really?!  <just ONE example of many earmarks that were or weren’t in the stimulus package> I’m shocked!! Not

Yes, they’re cute! Yes, I love all creatures, great and small!
But, no, I do not redecorate my living room when my foundation needs work, as our president just stated in his morning jog to the podium!  I don’t believe in throwing money around in order to be popular and WIN SUPPORT!  Honestly!!

And, I wonder what would have happened if Bush made daily appearances like Obama does!  Better yet, I wonder what would have been said if Bush had played cocktail bar-type music while the press waited for his daily news brief, and he was late every day!  What a field day would have been had by so many!!
You can’t say anything about Barack, though!  Nope!
Can’t joke around with this one!!

Obama reminds me of my step-father.  My step-father was a young, successful, good-looking smooth-talking business man who was a stern mother-f’er behind closed doors!  Mean as sin and there was no talking to him whether you were at the business table or the dinner table!  He even looked like Barack a little!  Creepy!

AND NO…I’m not stupid, blind or even scarred – I know that Barack Obama is doing some good but, lately I’m feeling like I’m in the Twilight Zone!  And I want out!!

Seriously.  Where is the outrage at the incredible hypocritical flip-flopping and floundering that is going on?!  Are we so desperate that we are willing to believe in anyone who says that they can fix it, whatever it is?  It reminds me of the time I spent wrapped up in the whole Sylvia Browne and Novus Spiritus debacle!  Come on, folks! We’re smarter than this!  Aren’t we?

I wonder if Barack said “JUMP!” if the sudden rush of movement would change the polar axis of the planet, single-handedly fixing the global warming issue?  Wouldn’t that be cool?

Speaking of cool…lay off of Michelle, you guys!
Yes, she wears sleeveless dresses to formal occasion!  ooo
Knock it off!  It could be worse!  I swear that some of the people thought they were selecting the next American Idol rather than the next President of the US!  Seriously!
I think that she and her children should be off-limits <they’re gorgeous!> until they start writing government policies which, with the way things are going, it wouldn’t surprise me!  <sorry…unnecessary dig>

Obamination #1 – Cut Taxes Before You Raise Them?

Posted in News & PSA's, Rants at 8:23 am by Donna

So, I read the news today, oh boy!
It looks like everyone will benefit from this wonderful $787B spending stimulus package in the form of a tax cut!

That’s right! Starting April 1st you can expect to see an additional $15 in your weekly paycheck!  ($65/month – $780/year) oooo

Ironically, Obama chooses April Fool’s Day for this to begin!  We are the fools because if we look deeper, we are loosing much more than $65 a month bailing out the crooked and the irresponsible so this, to me is like getting a penny-piece of candy after a harsh ass-whooping!

And, if you are keeping track of Obama’s promises, he still has not kept the most important of his public promises, the one he made to his own daughters.  Remember the wasted time we all spent talking about a hypo-allergenic dog that doesn’t really exist?  Yea!  I know that there are bigger fish to fry but honestly, after seeing what he has done so far, do you really want him handling those fish?  <George…now George could fish and I know Laura could fry it up!> <oops, sorry…I got off-track> It just seems to me that he emphasized his family so much during the campaign and he is being an example to other young families of America, the least he could do is keep the promises made to them!  Or hire someone to do it!!

I did notice that after breaking into our prime time TV, which he seems to love to do more than anything, and telling us how urgent it was to get this stimulus bill passed that he still took a little getaway time with Michelle, stalling the signing of the bill until all of the faithful were properly assembled for the pompous show!
A man cannot live on praise alone!  Amen?  Amen!

He [Obama] also promised to close Gitmo, much to the shock of many, myself included and the praise of others!  But, after the Pentagon reviewed the situation, Barack now feels that they are being treated alright and they can stay where they are but, with some tweaks as to the socializing between the prisoners and such.  Important stuff there…
[Review Finds Detainees' Treatment Legal]

A lot of people voted for Barack because of these sort of anti-war, pro-peace policies!  Fortunately for them, Barack knows the difference between a good war (Afghanistan) and a bad war (Iraq) thanks to Petraus and he’s going to simultaneously cut the budget for the military and sent 17,000 initial troops to the Good War place!
<Hercules!  Hercules!  Hercules!>

In other news, John Kerry accepted a letter from Hamas that was meant for Obama on a recent trip overseas!  He was hoping that this childish handling of love-notes wouldn’t get out in the news but, it did!  What the heck is that all about?  I mean…I knew Barack was anti-Israel but to be so open about it as he is just seems so bold!!

Shocked?  Surprised?
Not at all!

And, this whole Prime Time crap…breaking into regularly scheduled shows for his tyrannical rants is going way overboard!  Let us at least have our entertainment, Dude POTUS!  I know that there are a lot of people who love to hear you talk as much as you love to hear yourself, but seriously!  Maybe you should charge to hear your speeches!  That way, people who want to hear it can hear it and I’d bet dollars to donuts that half of the people in the line are folks who are benefiting from not paying their mortgages by getting next-to-nothing interest rates, of which many will default on in 6 months.  Of course they will!  They’d even pay to hear you speak!!  How irresponsible is that?!

I was thinking about that whole “Chimp Cartoon” deal and I really cannot see how the cartoon creator and the editor let that slip by!  It’s one of the lamest attempts to jab at the Prez I have ever seen!  But, what bothers me is to hear that the days of Cartoon Satirical Jabs at our POTUS are going to be nearly extinct as everyone walks on the eggshells of our nation’s leader’s skin color!
How lame is that?!?!
They were ruthless before!
I sense a whole lot of racism going on and it ain’t towards the darker-tanned Americans that call themselves African!

I feel real bad for ranting but I feel that I have every right to complain!  I vote, I pay my taxes and I live within my means and, I feel that those who are getting screwed the hardest are bound to scream the loudest!

Stay tuned for my next Obamination …

I Didn’t Used To Be So Political!

Posted in News & PSA's at 7:15 am by Donna

I’d rather blahg about the latest entertainment scandal or what I thought about a movie or a book or something but, lately it seems that all that I can think about is politics and it’s driving me crazy!  I look away as much as possible but every where I go, it is staring me in the face!

Obama may very well be the cure for complacency because it seems to me that there are a lot of people that I encounter who say the same thing, “I didn’t used to be so political but…” I guess we’ll see at the polls in the future!

Here is a guy [Obama] who looks fantastic, who I’d probably love to hang out with for a while <people are best enjoyed in small increments> and who ran under the Democratic Party and then BAM! does whatever he wants to!  WTH?! Is he allowed to do that?

I know that there are a lot of people who love this guy regardless and will tout his successes loud and proud but, eventually even the hardiest of fans have to admit that this is embarrassing!  For every cling-on fan, there are at least 10 of us whose head’s are spinning and we want to get off of this ride NOW!!

As the words, “I Won!” reverberate through my mind and they get tangled up in Nancy Pelosi’s smug grins that seem to say the same [she won], I feel more than a tinge of “uh-oh”!  My minds says things that I won’t repeat here!

Change we can believe in…yeah…we can believe in it just like we believe in the tooth-fairy, right?  I get it!

My Dog’s Incessant Paw-Licking Incident

Posted in Domestic at 7:55 am by Donna

This is Sheba, also known as “Cheez”…
Ah, the power of cheese” – ” The big cheese” and so on.

She is our 6 year-old Yorkie-Poo, (dad was a Yorkie, mom was a toy poodle) and she absolutely runs our home!
<as she should>

So, when Sheba started licking at her hand paw, I immediately starting worrying that while rough-housing with Sierra, our 1 year-old Dingo/Sheltie mixed dog, she must have hurt herself!
We have a half-acre of fenced-in woods that the girls play in and it’s not uncommon for one of them to hurt themselves while they’re running around…no matter how cleaned up we keep the place!

I fretted over the hand for about a week and then one day I looked at her, hoping that she’d tell me what was wrong again and that is when I noticed a small knot that had formed on the hair on her chin (beard…whatever)!  I keep her well-groomed but, as many people who own small dogs like her may know, the only way to groom their faces is to grab onto their beards.

Thankfully, one little snip solved the problem and no veterinarian necessary, as I was “this close” to calling him to x-ray her little hand.

Why am I telling you this?
Because it may save someone, if only one, a little grief.
Ya never know…Peace.

If We Had An Equal Race…

Posted in Random Thoughts at 5:02 am by Donna

I’ve been surfing around, reading people’s thoughts on our present situation…a President who out-right lies instead of trying to hide it as we are used to, a government who’s taking advantage of a situation to benefit themselves and, oh yeah…we still have our men and women at war and every crook in the country is starting to be found out but, unfortunately there is no way to recover what they’ve stolen from the people so now we must borrow it from another country who will, essentially own us!

I talk to people while I’m out and about and it has become painfully obvious to me that a lot of people hear slices of the the news and base their opinions and ideals upon a quip and also that Americans in general have ADD!  So many people have no idea why they voted for Barack Obama!  So many people who voted for Barack Obama have no idea what his campaign platform was and what he has been up to since the swearing in the “the nations first African American President”, as he was so improperly introduced as on Inauguration day!

I watch the news and I read the papers and even my little pea-brain can absorb and act according to what is going on…but, what happens when people ignore the news?  They have nothing to go on…and that is the type of people that I’ve been running into a lot lately!  People who, when you give them a tid-bits of fact say, “Oh, I didn’t know that!” but who valiantly made it to the polls to vote, just the same!

I find myself wishing that instead of McCain being the opposing candidate, that there were two African-American men running!  Then it would have been a semi-equal race and maybe then the people would had to have actually become somewhat familiar with the candidate and concerned with what they do after taking office?  Maybe?

So Many Guitars, So Little Time…& Space

Posted in Entertainment at 4:53 pm by Donna

John and I just got back from the Brookdale Guitar Show! <and we got a pocketful of change> It was our first time and if you’ve never been, imagine a bunch of guys <little boys in big-boy bodies> in two rooms with a bunch of guitars, amps and accessories!  It’s awesome!  I saw the look on my husband’s eyes as his mind tried to process it and it was priceless!!

The people there were really cool!  Mostly people our age, 40-ishers who were probably doing the same thing as John was.  Looking for “that” one guitar…the elusive one that they had when they were 20 but they let it go by trade or pawn and are now wishing that they had it back! Tsk tsk! That is the single reason why I’d rather buy John another guitar than have him trade one in!  The whining just ain’t worth it!  Amps are different but guitars?  Unless you really don’t like it, hold onto it because you’ll want it later!

Anyway, this was like 8 weekends worth of guitar shopping in one trip!  Gotta love that!

I wanted to give a “hello” to a few folks I met while I meandered around while John played around.

The folks at Rock ‘n Aroma, Inc. were really nice and they had some beautiful jewelry, really nice hand-made wooden key hangers (not sure what to call them) and lots of other stuff that you can check out at their website, RocknAroma.

There was also a phenomenal selection of T-shirts, of which the likes I never see in other stores, courtesy of Great Rock Shirts (aka The Tie-Dye Guy)!  I mean…these shirts are beautiful! You can see them at their website.  I didn’t buy any today but, I will be back!!

John ran into a new source of amps that he’s very interested in!  He’s never heard of the Sommatone Amps but he says that the “evil genius” (Sam?) that makes them creates the best amps he’s ever heard…hands-down!  We’ll be looking further into them, I’m sure.  They’re pretty pricey but you get what you pay for, right?

Last, but not least, I must give a shout-out to Nothing New Music (Becky?) who hipped us up to the guitar show in the first place and who we visit often!

In closing, we really had a great day and will return next year but I have one piece of advice to the people of Brookdale.  Granted, even a warehouse isn’t large enough when you get a bunch of guys kneeling down on the floor to hear the guitar through the amp and Brookdale is only so large but, I’d really love it if they spread it out a bit next year?  Please?  I had about 5 years worth of inadvertent(?) groping today…I’m not complaining but…you know!

Having Trouble With The Peanut Recall?

Posted in News & PSA's at 8:18 am by Donna

Besides the fact that I have craved peanut butter ever since the recall was announced, now I have to try to leaf through the list of recalled products on the FDA website, too?! The list is starting to rival President Obama’s stimulus package in terms of volume!!

Besides my sudden forbidden-fruit craving for peanut butter, I keep jars of colorful candies on my coffee table, because it holds more than just coffee and I find that the full candy jars are quite decorative!  I was “this close” to throwing the Peanut M-n-M’s away because although the Plain M-n-M’s and the Willie Wonka Everlasting Gobstoppers <which are delicious> are being eaten like crazy, the Peanut M-n-M’s stand untouched!

So, in order to put a squeeze on the peanut crunch, I decided that the best thing to do is go directly to the site of the products that I’m concerned with.  This way, I get to read their direct statement that they do not buy their peanuts from PCA in Georgia!  It just makes me feel better….I can hear “House saying, “everyone lies” but, whatayagonnado?

So far I have determined that not only are my Peanut M-n-M’s safe but, so are any Hershey’s products that contain nuts and Skippy Peanut Butter is safe to eat!

I have to admit that after hearing about the conditions in the Georgia peanut plant that I now suspect other plants as well!
But, I am a firm believer that if we were to investigate where all of our food comes from, we would starve!  Then again, we have survived thus far! In some ways, it forces us to be more educated as to what we consume, “and that’s a good thing“!

BTW…it has been said that during a depression, Hershey’s and other chocolate products sell like hot-cakes the delicious candy treat they are!  <that’s a free tip if you play the stocks but don’t shoot the messenger if it turns out false>

Ahh..What next?!

So…You Think You Had a Bad Day?

Posted in Entertainment at 7:22 am by Donna

It’s the never-ending quest to out-do one another when it comes to hard times and tales of woe but, never fear that when you feel the need to tell someone your woes, they will try to equal or better yet, top your tale!

Thankfully, if you’re alone or lonely but you still want company, because misery really does love company, or if you’re just looking for amusement, check out this site that I stumbled onto this morning!  Now, don’t get turned off by the name because as much as I don’t like the usage of the “F” word, it is increasingly used these days…

The site is called “F*** My Life” and it’s a collection of some of the funniest, saddest and pathetic stories of woe that I’ve ever heard!  There are stories like someone’s boss who sent them a text letting them know that they were fire and because they didn’t have a phone/text plan, it cost them 25 cents to get the text!  Or, the guy who brought his girlfriend to meet his parents and when his father said she was a “keeper” she corrected him and said that they were “just friends”…he was planning on proposing the following week!

Seriously…this site is hysterical in a crazy way!
