Your Dog is as Smart as a 2-year old, and as Curious!
Recently, there was a report on Live Science about how our canine companions are actually as smart as a two year old. I wasn’t surprised, but I would have rated my dogs higher!
Anyway…that article urged me to remind everyone that your dog is as smart as a two year old, and as curious! Cats and ferrets are curious by nature!
We all go through hoops to make sure that our homes are toddler-proof, but do we give the same consideration to our dogs and cats and other pets that roam around the home?
Do you make sure that your paper shredder is off?
Do you make sure that electric cords are tucked under chairs or other objects to keep the dog from mistaking it for licorice?
Do you make sure that your curtain pull-cords are pulled to prevent hanging/choking?
Do you make sure that foods that are dangerous to dogs are well out of the way? (raisins, etc.)
Do you make sure that all cleaners and chemicals are put away?
You should!

What Does John Travolta and Larry the Cable Guy Have In Common?
They both said, “Get ‘er done” famously!
When you hear that catch phrase, you think of Larry the Cable Guy, right? Me too!
But, I was watching “Carrie” this past weekend and I noticed that when John Travolta’s character, Billy Nolan and the boys are getting ready to bash a pig over the head and the lightening was flashing, and the thunder and rain! And as one of the guys starts to back out, Billy Nolan says, “get ‘er done” before going in and doing the dirty work himself!
Not “get her done” but “get ‘er done“! Neat, huh?

What Obama’s NOT Reading On the Beach
I just ran across an article in Inside Politics Daily about what Barack Obama will be reading on his vacation at Martha’s Vineyard! “Barack Obama’s Beach Reading List”
Five different books were listed, but what is missing is the all-encompassing health care bill that he’s shoving down our throats! Although, it seems that he will have little time to read anyway, what with all the golfing he’s doing!
Golfing, which is not a family thing but more a way to get away from them for some people, seems to be what the Prez likes to do the most! He even does it while all hell is breaking loose at the White House when he’s not on vacation!
This guy’s got balls and they’re not on the course!
He’s been in office for 6 months and has managed to do more damage than any other President, and he needs a vacation!?
The rest of the government is on “vacation”, trying to survive the tidal wave that greets them in their home states that the Prez put into action before he left, so why should Obama hang around?
But, this guy who wants the health care bill to pass so badly…hmm, has he even read the bill? Instead he’s reading books such as, “Lush Life” and “Hot, Flat and Crowded”!
Couldn’t this time be spent better by reading the bill? No?
Maybe then he could stop accusing us all of telling lies when we state what is in the bill? He kind of looks like an idiot when he’s disputing something that’s written in black and white!
He seems to feel so strongly about health care, but he doesn’t know crap about it!
And sure, everyone deserves a vacation, but how many of us can’t afford one? And each and every one of us who pays taxes are footing the bill for this guy’s charismatic “I’m a Great Guy” tour!
Wouldn’t it be nice if in order to vote, you have to prove that you pay taxes? That way, people might pay more attention to who they’re putting into office!
I’d say, “lesson learned” but I know better…

Caylee Anthony Had An Alibi? Seriously?

Casey Anthony’s defense team is claiming that because Calee’s body was found while Casey was in jail, and therefore she could not have possibly been the murderer!

Because the area was “searched” before with no remains found, and then later the body showed up while Casey was in jail is NOT an alibi! It’s proof that there was someone else involved if anything!
Besides, reports say that the area where Caylee was found was flooded when they tried to search it, and that it was only after Casey was in jail that the area exposed it’s contents!
Could Casey Anthony’s defense team, in an effort to save her, throw her brother or someone else who was possibly involved under the bus? I honestly wouldn’t put it past Casey, having learned what I have about her through her own representation!
Mark Nejeme, the attorney for Tim Miller of Equusearch was arguing in court for the names of the volunteers NOT to be released to the public since it could deter future volunteers.
George Anthony stormed into Nejeme’s press conference on Thursday the 20th because Nejeme was about to show photos of the area where Caylee’s body was found that prove that the area was so over-grown and swampy that someone could have been standing right near the body and not have been able to find it.
Not until the water dissipated, which…you guessed it!
The water receded after Casey was jailed!
Are these people [Casey's defense team] just trying to waste money or something? There’s no way they’re going to win this and all that it’s doing is prolonging the real case! Genius! I have always felt that her brother Lee is involved! Maybe she will selfishly find a way to bring down the whole family!
Oh wait…she’s already done that!
Also, the article from the Orlando Sentinel says, and I quote,
“George Anthony, whom Baez has asked not to visit his daughter at the Orange County Jail, mouthed “I love you” to Casey as he walked away from the stand.
After the hearing, Casey’s mother Cindy Anthony said she grew emotional when she saw Anthony’s reaction to her father.
“She hasn’t seen her dad for a very long time. It was very emotional and very touching.” Cindy Anthony said.”
Why has her dad been asked not to visit her? WTH!! That seems strange to me!
I’m not sure if the October court date has been moved. I think it has since the article say “next year” when referring to court dates…if someone knows, hip me up!

What To Do with those Leftover School Supplies
Another school year is about to start or has already for some,
and many parents have already gone out and bought the coolest stuff that they could find to send their little ones back in style!
That is..the parents that can afford it! With more and more people out of work, it’s getting harder to make ends meet, let alone get little Suzie the hippest stuff that you can find! And the kicker that at the end of the school year, Suzie’s parents will most likely find most of those items stashed in her room somewhere! They’ll get put away and forgotten about, and another year passes and they do the same thing! It’s a vicious cycle!

I went through my storage and found a bunch of really cool stuff that Christie never used! And, many charities that take care of disadvantaged youth really need those school supplies!
Especially these days!
Coincidentally, I ran across an article in the Burlington County Times about how the Catholic Charities of Trenton, New Jersey are struggling to keep up with the rising demand for help, as more and more parents are laid-off.

On Wednesday, Catholic Charities put out a final appeal for donations for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Its annual school supply drive has experienced a “severe drop” in donations, organizers said.
The nonprofit organization has 250 children signed up to receive backpacks with age-appropriate supplies, but has donations for only about 65 bags…

They’re Letting All of the Bad Guys Go!
In a day and age where I feel less and less secure every day,
now I hear that not only are they releasing Squeaky Fromme
from prison, but they are also releasing the man responsible for the Lockerbie bombing, too!
California threatens to release thousands of prisoners as their deficit looms around Ethiopian levels, and they’re not alone! Philadelphia, Chicago and other major cities are literally shutting down for a day or so to level out costs!
Crime is rising to an all-time high…or low, depending on how you look at it. Criminals no longer have any “code” and will literally steal candy from babies! And they’re not your typical teenage desperado anymore! We’ve seen on the news, there are grown men who apologize because they have to do what they *think* they have to do in order to feed their family. It’s no longer just drug-addicts…it’s life-addicts trying to stay alive!
I’d tell them to get a job, but there are so few of them around and those businesses that are alive are shaking in their boots as our government is being run by an bunch of elementary school children and everyone’s future is shaky!
And, believe it or not, yesterday some lady had the gall to leave her purse in her cart while she walked to the opposite end of the aisle in Wal-Mart? I thought I was gonna lose my mind! She’d be the first one, assumingly in my imaginative head, to cry out a prejudistic comment about how the neighborhood has gone to shit! Enabler!!
It seems to me, without the time to really do the deep research needed to confirm this, but it seems to me that there must be something written in the prophecies about this! A man comes into office under false pretenses and through his actions the evil of the world is released from it’s gated confines to demolish the good of the earth! <ooo sounds scary!>
Maybe there is someone out there in the world wide web knows?
You know…I have one relative from my birth family alive, and he is serving time in the prison system! <I know!> I still would not want criminals released because we are so broke that we cannot house them! YES! It pisses me off beyond belief that the men and women in prison get better treatment than many Americans, but then again…prison life is about as close to hell as any religious or other imaginative book suggests!
And…Unfortunately, some deserve to die there.

Need A Pair of Gloves in the Kitchen Real Quick?
I was mixing up hummingbird food this morning, which always means that I wind up with red fingers all day as there seems to be no such thing as a neat food color dispensor! One that doesn’t dribble, you know?
Well, I decided today that I really didn’t want red fingers! So, I grabbed a sandwich bag and put my hand in it before handling the food color! It worked like a charm, or a glove <ha ha> and I just tossed it in the trash when I was done!
So, if you ever need gloves in a hurry, grab a sandwich baggy!

About Those Pre-Bagged Salads at Grocery Stores
In this day and age of cutting corners, I admit to buying the bagged prepared salads that they sell in grocery stores, never really sure what was in them, but lazy just the same! All that I could be sure of is that we would have to eat it in 2 days or it would be soured! (What a bargain!)
Well, that’s going to change now that I read this article about a German woman who found a poisonous piece of greenery in her bagged lettuce! Granted, it’s in Germany but I take messages regardless of how far they come from! (even up-above!)

Samples were sent to the University of Bonn for testing, which detected more than 2,500 micrograms of poison — 2,500 times more than the recommended daily allowance — in 150 grams of salad, German media reported.
I love that…there’s recommended daily allowances for poison?!
Ironically, this week I switched to buying all of the ingredients and making the salads myself again because all of the stores that I frequent do not seem to get it that if you crush the bag in any way, you’ve reduced it’s lifetime to about an hour!
And, in case you are not in the strict habit of washing your lettuce before you eat it, think about this! One day, I was driving down a farm-town road nearby and I spotted some migrant farmers tending to a batch of lettuce. At the end of one of the rows was one of the workers relieving himself on a few heads of lettuce!
I almost lost control of the car!
But, you can’t beat ‘em…it’s illegal! <zing!>
The article ends with a very common-sense bit of advice.
If it doesn’t taste good, don’t eat it!
You are what you eat.

Chocolate and Heart Attack Survivors – Perfect Together!
I always have loved chocolate and have never needed a justification seeing as I’m skin and bones, <with just enough muscle> but now I have a hole new reason to eat those MnM’s while I slowly fall asleep watching TV every night!
According to an article I found on Yahoo News, chocolate can cut the death rate in people who have suffered an acute heart attack! Isn’t that the greatest? Not just that chocolate is great, but that they’re finding ways to elongate lives that have been cut short due to heart disease!
Previous studies have shown that cocoa-based confections can lower blood pressure or improve blood flow, and it has cut the rate of heart-related mortality in healthy older men and in post-menopausal women.
The new study shows that eating chocolate every day has helped the survival rate of those who participated over an 8-year period! And, although clinical trials still need to be done to confirm the study’s findings, chocolate has very few side affects!
Obesity comes into question though, and we would hope that an obese person would use common sense when it comes to portions, as weight is a big contributing factor to heart disease. But, according to the article, a person who is slim and has survived a heart attack should not limit the amount of chocolate that they eat, within reason! Isn’t that great!?

Pretty cool, huh?
Now, I know that these sort of studies come out every day!
One day you are told that a glass of red wine is good for you and the next day there’s a warning against it! But, chocolate really poses no threat unless you are unable to control your portions or if you’re diabetic.
Chocolate actually has a lot of benefits! I think that chocolate reduces my stress because I get that sugar-high and then I crash with a sugar-low. Sometimes it is necessary for me to force my body to slow down in order to keep from getting into heart-trouble! But, I don’t eat a lot of anything so I am not in jeopardy of death by chocolate…although that sounds good!
Now, recently I saw chocolate-covered bacon and I know that people out there have found a way to cover just about everything but cow-dung with chocolate and swear that it tastes good! This is where common sense comes in whether you’ve survived a heart attack or not!
Actually, it goes against all common sense!
As a heart attack survivor, I live by the rule that if it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad! <Sheryl stole that line from me>
Live for today but plan on being here tomorrow! It’s worked for 11 years, which is more than most docs thought I could pull off, but I swore to prove them wrong from the get-go! I eat chocolate almost every day in one form or another! Some say that dark chocolate has more benefits! If you believe it and like it, eat it!

Obama WANTS Single Payer Universal Health-Care (Proof)
I was reading a WSJ article written by Karl Robe and I felt that the following portion of the article really needs to be reiterated everywhere…and often!

“For example, there’s a video being circulated online of Barack Obama telling the Illinois AFL-CIO in 2003, “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health-care program . . . we may not get there immediately” and then telling an SEIU Health Care Forum in 2007, “I don’t think we’re going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There’s going to be some transition process. I can envision a decade out or 15 years out or 20 years out where we’ve got a much more portable system.”
The White House now insists that the president doesn’t want to enact a single-payer health-care system or eliminate private insurance. What’s more, a White House spokeswoman attacked the video, saying its compilers “Take a phrase here and there—they simply cherry-pick and put it together—and make it sound like he’s saying something that he didn’t really say.”
